Happy Monday Vibes! Today we’re chatting all about how to gain more momentum in your creative business (and your life!)

Running a creative business is a lot like riding a roller coaster, and the higher you pull yourself up the more speed you’ll have once you really get going. So when it comes to building momentum in your creative business there are a few ways that you can be sure you’re headed in the right direction before you take off.

Create a roadmap.

It’s important that you take time to kind of nap out the general direction you want to go in and get as much clarity as you can before you really hit the ground running, the same thing you would do if you were doing a cross-country road trip. the more you can figure out on the front end, the easier it will be to gather the tools and resources you think may help.

I like to create a yearly roadmap and then I usually break that down into a quarterly and monthly goals list.

If you’re just starting out and you don’t really know where you want to be in a year, just start small with a monthly roadmap, just a few things you want to accomplish within 4 weeks, do that for a few months and then try a quarterly roadmap the next time a new one rolls around. Then you can try out a yearly roadmap when you feel comfortable enough.

Don’t ask people for advice.

When you’re first starting a new venture it may seem like second nature to run and tell your friends or family or post something to social media, but vibes, at this stage in the game, moving in silence will be your best option. Although I’m sure your inner circle means well most of the time, sometimes people just can’t help but project their insecurities into others, especially when it comes to big experiences that they would personally shy away from. When you share your vision with someone who doesn’t think the same way as you, you set yourself up for horrible advice you didn’t ask for or worse, an unsolicited conversation about why it’s a terrible idea that attempt to grow as a person. Unless you want to hear 15 different ways that your new venture is a bad idea from a few people who are too scared to even cross the street, do yourself a favor, keep it to yourself.

Instead, Find a mentor!

Now if you want some advice from someone that actually has your success in mind, you should definitely look into getting a mentor, someone who is already doing what you want to do, and that you feel could show you the ropes. Investing in a mentor is one of the best ways to not only stay motivated but you also get to learn from all of their learning curves, saving you from making a whole bunch of newbie mistakes.

Focus on your strengths

Gaining momentum requires a positive attitude and probably more confidence than you’ve ever had before. There’s going to be a lot of stuff you don’t know, but that’s ok because you will learn. The best way to keep your enthusiasm high is to not waste time worrying about what you don’t know, and instead focus on what you do.

If you haven’t already seen it, I dropped a video last week with a whole bunch of positive affirmations related to momentum that you can vibe out to, so be sure to check that out, the link will be in the description.

If you don’t know it, figure it out!

And for all of the stuff you don’t know, just figure it out! These days there are more ways than ever before to get the information you need about literally any subject. You can type anything into the YouTube search bar and I promise it will come up. Start with all of the free resources like Instagram, google, a dedicated Facebook group, then once you’ve exhausted those options hit up amazon or Barnes and noble for some reading material. Got all the books? Now find an online course, and make time to attend a few conferences. Learn everything you can in as many ways as you can and invest in your education whenever possible.

Vibes, gaining momentum with that project or new venture is slot easier than you think, I’m telling you, you just have to stay focused and utilize the resources around you with major doses of confidence and determination.
